“SLPP IS NOT A SERIOUS PARTY”
Says Imran Sillah
By Abdulrahman Koroma
Former Publicity Secretary of Sierra Leone’s main Opposition Party (SLPP), Imran Sillah has referred to the party as very unserious.
Imran Sillah made this statement on Thursday 16th March 2017 in an exclusive interview with SALONE TIMES in Freetown.
He stated that there are members within the party that support and promote interest of Julius Maada Bio instead of the interest of the party and that they have sworn that their main reason in the party is to propagate Julius Mada Bio, leaving all other intending presidential aspirants hopeless.
He furthered that there are other serious candidates in the party that deserve a level playing field in the party to pursue their course of leading the party in the next general election and that those people should also be given a decent platform like any other candidate.
“In the end, most of us still have our vote that forms the 38% of the SLPP votes in the 2012 general election. SLPP should realize that when it comes to elections everyone is important,” he pointed out.
He described the next SLPP convention in April this year as a coronation ceremony and that he will not be part of “the coronation.”
“I don’t feel SLPP anymore, I will be happy if the SLPP expel me from their party at this moment,” he averred.
He described their meeting in Portloko with major party stakeholders as a progressive meeting and that they are among the people who believe that they have been denied their rights to participate fully in the party.
He called on all Sierra Leoneans to come out massively and do their registration to make their voices heard in the next General Election and that “it is high time we shift these two old political parties and catch up with other countries in Africa in terms of positive transformation.”
