The 14 February 2017 brouhaha in Koaquima an outskirts of Koidu City Kono District is unfortunate. This in anyway doesn’t fracture the over century relationship between the Konos and Temnes.
It is deceitful to mean Koaquima as Small Makeni. No sober individual would ever conclude thus.
The relationship between the Konos of Kono and the Temnes residing in Kono is umbilical. The February 14 brouhaha is an isolated one. It is an unfortunate circumstances.
Kono is #KIND. It has hosted our parents that had come to look for opportunities here for the past 100 years.
They gave us their lands for mining, agriculture and other use. Some of our male folks married their daughters and they had children. Kono bestowed leadership (Temne town chiefs) to us. Some of us were born here and Kono is what we call #HOME.
Why do you want to take my human rights away from me? My 30-year + stay in planet earth has been spent in Kono. Where do you want me to call home?
This violence was orchestrated by selfish and greed. It is not supported by the status quo.
Do not engulf an isolated incidence. Selfish. I am not even going into specifics. I don’t even want to mention the genesis of the fight.
Only a feebleminded guy can ever dream of separating us. I am not in anyway condoning the violence perpetrated by the Northern Alliance guys. Yes, it takes two to tangle. But, we will not be put asunder. Don’t preach #trabalism. We are one!
Separating us would shatter homes, break marriages, break friendship, break fraternity, break both financial and business ties, build walls, and caused total division amongst Sierra Leoneans.
According to statistics, 90% of Konos that are highly educated today obtained theirs from neighbouring Tonkolili and Bombali. During their stay, they made good friends and some even got children.
Think about!
