SLPP PRIDES ITSELF WITH DEMOCRATIC TENETS, and all wanted to see how it worked in the case of Chief Kappen
*By Prof. Septimus KANU.*

*Chief Bai Sebora Somano Kappen* was one of those making the headlines. He has occupied the space once held by *John Oponjo Benjamin*(JOB).

The sudden rise from relative obscurity to prominence by *Chief Somano Kappen* has however not come by accident. It has happened as a result of the *SLPP* going to a convention on the *16th and 17th of August to elect the National Executive that would make the party for the next two years.

The party conference held at the *HAIKAL AKADEMY* in the outskirt of *BO CITY* attracted thousands of supported from all over the country and Diaspora clad in their party colour.
When the convention actually commenced at a noon on Friday 16th August, *John Oponjo Benjamin declared he was now a free man. Fingers will no longer be pointed at him and whether or not he is a friend to PRESIDENT ERNEST BAI KOROMA will no longer be an issue,* he said.
*JOB* went on to say President Koroma has his real friends in the *SLPP* but nobody mentions their names. He went further to name *Dr. Prince Harding*; the elected Vice Chairman, and now they *Ag. Chairman* for *SLPP Executive-2, as a man who dines and wines with the President Koroma but that nobody cares about that. Thank God, he said, that he can now enjoy his freedom of association.*

Duyah nor to mi sae so ohh❗

At the time of the party conference, a handful of *SLPP* Members were behind bars on allegations of misconduct to fellow party members. Those in conflict with the law belong to a faction of the party who insist that come what may *( Pa O Pa)* *Rgt. Bgt. Julius Maada Bio* should be the next Presidential candidate of the *SLPP*.
Anybody who dares stand in the way of their dream risks losing blood and limb or should probably look for another party. *And that is exactly what they are doing presently.* The under currents were that the convention was going to give an indication who would be *SLPP’s* Presidential candidate in *2018.*
I will vividly remembered if you walked around *BO CITY* on the eve of the convention and read inscription on a banner boldly saying *”CHIEF SOMANO KAPPEN IS THE MAN OF THE PEOPLE”,* you has to interpret it as *THE MAN FOR BIO* and if you saw one with *ALIE BANGURA;* A TRUE PATRIOT, it could have been saying *KANDEH YUMKELLA IS A MAN TO WATCH.*
Bio sidekick *Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sie retained the position of the Secretary General for a while.
*DR. PRINCE HARDING* watch your back,,,,,,
