SLFA General Secretary has no moral authority to threaten veterans….says Keketoma Sandi

The Contact Person of the Julius Maada Bio Media and Communications Team, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi has fiercely reacted to a letter by SLFA General Secretary, Chris Kamara that all veterans and coaches will be investigated after honouring an invitation by Brigadier Bio and his wife for a dinner.
In an interview, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi said: “Chris Kamara is just a nuisance and attention seeker. He should be more concerned about apologising to the general public for the deteriorating state of football in the country and as SLFA General Secretary he must be ashamed of that”.
Explaining why the SLFA General Secretary does not have the moral authority to threaten veterans, Sandi noted: “Chris and I are members of a certain whatsapp group called ‘Public Agenda’ where Chris once wrote so many lies and demeaning things against Retired Brigadier Bio. If in his capacity as SLFA General Secretary he is publicly engaging in malicious smear campaign against Bio then it shows he has no integrity and moral authority to write such letter against veterans. Chris has allowed a reputable institution like SLFA to be used for political witch-hunt against veterans who are our heroes of this country.”
Sandi further said: “I have seen Chris publicly posting pictures and writings praising President Koroma and APC in many whatsapp fora like an APC surrogate in a partisan manner. How can a General Secretary of SLFA publicly engage in praising APC and smearing an opposition candidate then you write to threaten others? If those veterans had declared support for any APC candidate, Chris would never have written such an ill-motivated letter because of his emotional attachment to APC.”
Brigadier Bio’s Communications and Media Contact Person also made the clarification which he said might have responsible for the poor judgement by Chris Kamara: “When the Veterans attended the dinner with Brigadier Bio and his wife, they were there as Sierra Leoneans expressing their political rights to associate and not as representatives of SLFA. They are citizens who have rights to express their political views and we value those views because these are respected people in our society. We thank them for honoring the invitation and the endorsement and we want to reassure them that under the Presidency of Brigadier Bio the pride of Sierra Leone Football, which they care about, will be restored.”
The reaction from Sandi came after the SLFA General Secretary posted a Press Release on social media dated 27th January 2017 informing the public that veterans who made open declaration for Brigadier Bio will be investigated.
It can be recalled that on the 25th January prominent veterans and coaches were invited at the residence of Brigadier Bio where they declared their support for Bio and the SLPP in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections expected to take place in February 2018.
