*Dr. Minkailu Bah Laugh Off Misleading Claims, Says APC has structures*
The Tonkolili District Chairman of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC), has laughed off what he described as misleading claims made by supporters believe to be loyal to former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sierra Rutile Limited, John Bonoh Sisay.
Hon. Dr. Minkailu Bah, who also happens to be Sierra Leone’s Minister of Education, Science and Technology, said he is not bothered about what people say about him, emphasising the ruling APC has structures and that people parading as presumptive presidential candidates of the party are violating the stern warning of the National Secretary General, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh, who made it abundantly clear that the party is not yet ready for flagbearer election.
He explained that his position is clear and that he has no regret to prevent APC operatives from that part of the country not to attend the event purportedly organised for John Sisay.
Dr. Bah explained that John Bonoh Sisay and entourage were not only welcomed by the people of Tonkolili District but that he entered uninvited to a District Council meeting which was on this week.
He said he remained committed to the values of the party which he added had to do with respect for structures.
“For now our Chairman and Leader is in Charge of our party. For now he only has the flagbeared,” he concluded.
It could be noted that Dr. Bah is one of the major pillars in ensuring that President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma delivers in both his Agenda for Change and his Agenda for Prosperity, by reviving a corrupt educational system which he inherited in 2007 from then Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) led government.
Throughout the tenures of HE Ernest Bai Koroma, Dr. Bah has been loyal to the cause of the APC Party by upholding its ideologies in his home district of Tonkolili. Tonkolili District has also all this while been a sealed votes district for the ruling APC. Dr. Bah has also been able to unify Tonkolili District though his people are grossly underrepresented in the current administration of the state. Unlike other districts, party power transition in Tonkolili has been very smooth, with its constituents very humble and loyal to the APC Structures.
Against this backdrop, the unwelcomed visit of John, which was likely to throw division within the APC in Tonkolili, was unreservedly rejected by the people.
A Tonkolili party elder who claimed anonymity said “in Tonkolili district, we only support the person who at the end is elected by the APC Party to be our flagbearer. We don’t want to be divided between camps in the runup to our conversion. Dr . Bah is our son of the soil, I am sure he does not want Tonkolili to be divided as he would be the one to be blamed if anything that that happened.” The erudite elder furthered that Tonkolili district takes not of happenings in the main opposition SLPP where divisions within the party has held the party to the brink of taters.
He ended, “it is we the people who don’t welcome John here. Just as John, we are ready to reject others who would want to come with divisions between us, especially now that HE Ernest Bai Koroma is still our President.”
