Has it ever occur to you to question why we are still poor as people despite the huge minerals we posses as a country? Has it ever occur to you to check the amount of unexplained wealth our leaders continue to amass with their families living the rest of our people in miserable conditions? Has it ever occur to you to check why our leaders keep on failing us? Our leaders keep on failing us since independence to date because they aren’t sincere to whatever oath they’ve taken to serve the people and as nationals electing these leaders we’ve also failed to check their records due to the changing technology, services and human needs compare to other nations. Leaders in Sierra Leone, once they are elected to lead they believe they’re too good, famous, very intelligent and great leaders. But their actions and results keep on showing the rest of humanity that they are not, they have not what it take to add concrete values in the lives of the people with all the resources we have as a nation, they failed to believe we are living in a changing business world and we have to search, learn, develop and improve to create more and more transient competitive advantages as per our natural resources. It’s a well established fact that from independence to date, Sierra Leone is lacking servant leadership that can achieve successful communication, cooperation, commitment, engagement, morale and motivation. Which is honestly pathetic for a country that was once ranked as the Athens of Africa. To be honest, just like in the past, current well popularise national sycophancy that’s meant to destroy all democratic systems within the country doesn’t tolerate our people to understand the value of this type leadership. When I look at great leaders they are open and share their experience, knowledge and skills. I believe that such leadership is not easy in our country today because our politicians continue to hold the reasoning power of the majority within the bracket of abject poverty to an extent most of us prefer to sell our votes to the very people that continue to embezzle our national resources and hold the progress of our country and people backward only to turn back and hypocritically ask God to intervene and save us. Even the majority of the people presently eying the seat of Presidency to succeed President Koroma are far away from these qualities. The hard but uncomfortable truth is they’re equal in worth In terms of intelligence, learning, understanding, improving and adaptability capabilities when it comes to addressing the social challenges as per natural resources.
Whilst it’s absolutely true that this current government continue to select, paper over the cracks of criminals and previously convicted criminals in our social positions of trust in our modern days democracy, that doesn’t justify that Sierra Leoneans must continue to tolerate dishonourable people in our social positions of trust to keep on holding the progress of the country and its people backward. To be honest, even the much talked about constructed roads under this current regime, there is more than meet the eyes taking in to cognisance the finances put in these roads were never commensurate to actual development realised in terms of guarantee or quality of the said roads. In fact most of these main roads were financed by grants from our international partners. But It pains to understand that most of these constructed well propagated roads have so many potholes just within the very first year they were constructed and to make matter worse they were priced in the normal internationally accepted price for roads per kilometre. So the question for the current All People’s Congress (APC) regime is why the current deplorable conditions in the lives of the majority despite inheriting a good economic base and with all the resources they keep on gathering? But even with this and more wrongs done by the present regime that doesn’t excuse us to justify Sierra Leone as a country that can only be run by State rogues. President Koroma must be lucky to be our President currently because back in his days as a business man and main opposition leader he presented himself clean and there were no skeleton to visit then in his cupboard. This isn’t the case for Maada Bio and I hope his supporters will understand that there are people within the Sierra Leone People’s Party that are right on top of the pyramid in terms of ethical behaviours that can match with a responsible first gentle man characters to correct the current deplorable conditions of our people and country, but not the likes of a battered image Bio who’s also a 21 years idler.
If the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Julius Maada Bio Paopa faction really mean good for this country, they should have done some soul searching to unearth the records of Bio and understand that our country can’t afford to get people with well battered records in our social positions of trust and expect to move forward tangibly. Their argument that the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) has so many criminals in our social positions of trust and they are doing no wrong in supporting another criminal like Bio to be our next leader, simply reveal what a Bio Presidency will mean in Sierra Leone: It means our country will be run by “Unspecified Powers from Above” which we never voted for. It means they are going to equally loot our resources and embezzle tax payers monies just as the APC are currently doing and get away with it. It means the Mayor of Freetown will be fired for violating Procurement Rules, but the Minister of Transport and Aviation will be freed by the same Anti Corruption Commission Boss for committing the same crime. It means lawlessness from those in social positions of trust will continue. It means our youth will continue to face disproportionate force from the police. It means more taxation for essential goods. It means criminal imposition of electricity charges against the poor. It means education will finally die. It means the people will continue to suffer for water. It means more fake projects and agendas that has nothing to do with the concrete development of the people generally but are only meant to put money in the pockets of the selected few. It means a continuation of deplorable medical facilities. It Means no genuine attention from those in social positions of trust to address social service deliveries for the majority. It means more sufferings in the lives of the majority. It means the Attorney General and Minister of Injustice will refer to a professional Auditor General Report as a “mere opinion”. It means they’re going to add more national debt and praise Bio that he introduce Austerity Measures because he love the people of Sierra Leone. It means Julius Maada Bio will tell fellow nationals that if he wants an unconstitutional third term Presidential extension he will go for it and no one will stop him. It means our next opposition leader will be weak, an idler but can buy a $ 750,000 house and afford cars with no one questioning how he’s making money. It means outright manifestation of arrogance and a promotion of sycophancy from the hands of selected few. Come on guys, the majority of our nationals are tired with this perpetual madness deliberately borne out of personal interest at the expense of the majority. Please give us a break we want to see genuine politicians not rogues in democratic dressings in the coming elections.
If our past and current leaders have a desire to serve the people they must determine what their weak spots are and hire those with the ability to help them to learn the best way to address the needs of the citizens of this country!!! This problem exists in nearly every country!!! Most people who are elected have a few social skills that may prove to be attractive to the masses, but since the average person has no real understanding above that which is required to survive day by day they will vote for someone who impress them with mere words, yet do not possess any real ability to address the day to day running of the country!!! When President Koroma said he’s going to run the country like a business the thing that President Koroma failed to do as well as others capable of running a profitable and very successful business around him is to hire the people that are skilled in area’s that the business man may be weak in!!! To be successful in any line of work we must be able to do what we ourselves can do while bringing the most qualified and experienced professional into every different department of the business!!! For instance, if United States President elect Donald J. Trump took a 1 million dollar loan and in 40 years with much struggle turned it into a 10 billion dollar empire it’s because he has the right business skills plus the competent team within his midst to efficiently handle his business to stand the test of times!!! In modern days politics, in fact just like before, people believe for a country to be successful and best equipped to serve it’s people it must be run as if it is a business of extreme proportions!!! To be effective in doing is a leader must be both intelligent and humble willing to address his/her own personal weaknesses!!! To achieve the success we hope for the nation every future candidate willing to serve must be assessed from their ability to comprehend business and to draw those who understand the many tentacles that must all come together to ensure that victory can be claimed by all the people as the country begins to grow stronger through proper guidance!!!
Sierra Leone can grow from it’s current very deplorable status into a country that can be more beneficial to all citizens, but we must be very careful not to keep on repeating the same mistakes by electing a President based on thin political parties, gender bias, self interests, regional and tribal lines instead of electing one out of thorough assessment of nationalistic sense of purpose with total respect for the laws of the land!!! Let say for instance, President Koroma’s running the State like a business start out by teaching small business to anyone with a good idea and providing small loans that would allow them to begin building their financial base!!! Especially with nationals we know can work with their hands to build a product they can market!!! By setting up people who can make a product in their home and then have an agent approach other countries where you are able to sell the products this should have built a simple economic base that should have put food on many tables in the lives of the current suffering majority plus a contribution to our Gross National Product!!! With the current improvement in Internet service in the country, it would have pave the way to set up online stores as a way of marketing the product the workers who are able to create anything of value produce!!!
Team work ensures that all benefit!!!
