New Sierra Rutile Manager Accused of Racism…Calls Sierra Leoneans Monkeys.

The new Sierra Rutile Country Manager who stands accused of making dangerous racist remarks about the previous Sierra Leonean management of the company. Rob Hatingh had reportedly referred to the previous leadership of the company as *”monkeys in a zoo”*
In a recent meeting he held only for foreign expatriate staff the new Country Manager, in a bold display of arrogance and hate said he was going to change the manner in which the company was run adding that, *”the monkeys have been in charge of the zoo for too long.”*
According to our sources, Rob Hatingh’s racist slur reportedly angered other foreign expatriates and one of them, a South African had this to say, *“I have been with Sierra Rutile for three years and I am appalled that anyone, let alone the Senior Manager of the new company could make such a statement. I sincerely hope that his comments were not to be racist as they sounded as there is no place for this kind of thinking within SRL or Sierra Leone*.
Some observers believe the company is facing a period of uncertainty especially with the future of local personnel. What stands out clear is the fact that the new Country Manager has started on a wrong footing and this may potentially fuel unrest in the company. Sierra Rutile was recently taken over by an Australian company, ILUKA.
The takeover was reportedly smooth as it was well well managed by the previous CEO and his team of mostly Sierra Leonean managers. It could be recalled that the company nearly collapsed after the 11 year civil war but was revamped to survive external economic shocks and the devastating Ebola viral disease.
As a responsible news medium, we are calling for an immediate apology from the new Country Manager. The Company’s reputation can also be saved if it issue out a statement on this.
In another development, we have reliably learnt that the company is set to terminate a contract that employs over 300 Sierra Leoneans. Details of this remain sketchy but we will endeavor to bring you more on this.
