For Those Supporting the Unprofessional Actions and Excesses of AIG MEMUNA Today at the SLRSA headquarter Along Kissy Road In Freetown….
*Section 26G of The Road Transport Authority Amended Act of 2003 clearly states that…*
*” EVERY TRAFFIC WARDEN (Now Road Safety Corp) SHALL HAVE FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS/HER DUTIES/FUNCTIONS UNDER THIS ACT THE SAME POWERS AND PROTECTION OF THE SIERRA LEONE POLICE FORCE BY LAW FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR LAWFUL DUTIES”.*
This clearly tells you that AIG MEMUNA do not have any right to interrupt the operations of the Sierra Leone RoadSafety Authority….
Let’s assumed SLRSA went wrong somewhere, its the responsibility of AIG Memuna to take it up with the Executive Director or make it known to Chief Superintendent of Police Johnson who’s a sitting Member of the Board of Directors of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority representing the Inspector General of Police Francis Alieu Munu so it would be resolved at management level other than interrupting the operation of the Authority.
Sierra Leone is a country where some people presume themselves to be more powerful than state institutions that are established by law.
The excesses of the Sierra Leone Police in the performance of their lawful duties is becoming a cause for concern to the entire citizenry of our beloved country and if nothing is done I’m afraid.
The concept of Impunity is gradually becoming the order of the day within the rank and file of the SIERRA LEONE POLICE.
Very Senior Police Officers like AIG MEMUNA that should be seen to be supporting The President’s National Road Safety Strategy geared toward reducing fatalities on our deadly roads is seen on a broad day light undermining a state institution that got it powers from PARLIAMENT the highest law making body in the country.
For far too long Road Safety Corps have been suffering from not only the unprofessional conduct of the Sierra Leone Police but their wicked and non collaborative actions.
