S UNPRECEDENTED ASSASSINATION OF THE FORMER CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF REALLY THREATENS THE PEACE IN THIS LAND. Imagine elections are approaching and such a high profile assassination has happened, it brings many questions to mind. Why was he killed? Who did this killing? How did they enter his residence? Were security guards present at his house when this happened? How many family members lived with him and were they harmed? Too many questions the CID must find answers for. Such a gruesome ploy hasn’t been reported here for a very long time now, so this will definitely ring the alarm on the need to tighten surveillance and security in the country. The fact that a firearm was used also means that a certain group of criminals or assassins have guns in their possession and the personality who was killed signals maybe the dawn of assassination of influential people in the state. I pray it doesn’t happen that way.

As the merriment of the festive season rolls on in the country, we will do ourselves more good if we limit our movements and don’t stay out late. This will give the security apparatus the biggest warning of why they should brace-up and be ready to guarantee the people a stable country.

As this news is spoken in the mouths of many here, I can sense people are panicky about the situation right now. A people that have experienced war will definitely be scared of this unfortunate incident.

However, questions must be asked and answers provided to calm the fright of many. People have always been yearning for an upgrade in the security of this country, the way our boarders with our neighbouring countries are porous is something to worry about at a time like this. Criminals come in and leave with impunity without being tracked or apprehended. Things are smuggled into the country easily because our boarder patrols are inefficient and ineffective.

This news is detrimental to our development as well, it scares investors off to come and invest. Now, let’s be each other’s keeper and be willing to coorperate with the police, especially in sharing information about people we are suspicious of as criminals. Together we can prevent a repeat of this gruesome act and enhance peace and stability.
Let’s keep on the watch!
