The ruling All People’s Congress (APC), Lungi chapter of lawyer Abu Bakarr Kalokoh’s movement is embroiled in crisis due to endless grudge between the chairman and the Chairlady.
It was a day of pocket of protests in Lungi yesterday as APC Kalokoh came into the country and it took sustained efforts of security officers present to disperse the aggrieved protesters who wore frown faces in welcoming their leader.
To the APC protesters the homecoming of their leader was nothing but a charade and that they were out to register their full support for their parallel leadership.
This reporter learnt that the protesting party supporters who were drawn from the northern and western area were miffed by the attitude of their leaders prior to the arrival of Kalokoh.
Even after peace was restored in certain areas, the protesters continued to hang round various premises causing a slight breach of peace within the vicinities.
At first, there was tension in all areas in Lungi when thugs allegedly hired by one of the overzealous leaders of the movement (names withheld). The protests were met with resistance from the security operatives.
Journalists were barred from entry into the scene of most of the protest for reasons an insider revealed anchored on fraudulent practices.
The chairman of the Kalokoh movement, Alhajj Bunduka Bangura and the Chairlady Saffie Conteh are currently engaged in war of words against each other.
The allegations and counter allegations of who should be in charge and who is a true APC was openly exhibited by both parties.
The Chairlady complained of imposition of chairman on the people of Lungi at the detriment of the movement. She claimed that, the chairman is a member of the opposition SLPP and a supposed brother to Alimamy Petito Koroma.
She further accused her arrival of being greedy and not love by the people. She also claimed that the chairman has hijacked the operations and activities of the movement and had also placed his cronies and family members into key positions in the movement.
Another APC woman leader in Lungi who spoke under anonymity for fear of being victimized revealed that poor coordination and maltreatment of party supporters caused the ugly scenario that characterized the welcoming Kalokoh.
For his part, the chairman Alhajj Bunduka Bangura claimed that the Chairlady was jealous of his relationship with lawyer Kalokoh and vowed to continue to be enemies till death.
He said he is the founder of the movement and would not allow anyone to hijack his job.
However, before night fall, they were still battling hard to control the crowd of angry protesters who stormed several premises in happiness despite complains of lost of phones, moneys and other valuables items from innocent people.
Meanwhile, speaking to journalists immediately after his arrival, lawyer Abu Bakarr Kalokoh called on his protesting supporters to join the president in fighting austerity measures.
He said he has intention to succeed President Koroma which was why he was in the country to consult his supporters.
APC Kalokoh Movement In Disarray
