The Sierra Leone government on Tuesday announced that they are abandoning the ICC, according to government spokesman Ajibu Jalloh on a Whatsapp press conference, the spokesman said the decision was made to unite Africa and advance Africa independence and sovereignty. “We are tried of the west telling Africans what to do” said Agibu..
He further said “why is the so called “advance” world such as UK and America not signatory to the ICC treaty”?
But political observers, human rights groups and opposition parties are calling on the Sierra Leone government to reconsider its position.
Sierra Leone has now join nations like the Gambia, South Africa, Kenya and so many other African States that have left the international criminal courts citing bias towards Africa leaders.
