By Mahmud Tim Kargbo

I keep on saying to the Youth of APC with Ibrahim Yusuf “Beloz” Bangura as the successor to Hon. Bai Mahmoud Bangura as the APC Youth League President, this would be a ‘one nation’ Youth League, on the side of the APC Youth regardless of status, educational background, tribe, region. Spreading opportunity, increasing social mobility, helping APC Youth to get on – these aims run through Beloz DNA like letters through a stick of rock. Central to all this is being the Youth League that will truly finish the job of turning around President Koroma’s Youth Empowerment ambition within the APC Party and clear the current trust deficit between the majority of our youth in the Party and the current Youth League leadership.
Now for some people, they say this is contradictory. How can you help people get on, when there’s not as much money to go around?
Today, I want to take that argument head-on. I want to explain the principles that will guide us as we approach our transitional elections, and show how, by getting a smarter APC Youth League President like Beloz, with his true sense of empathy and commitment to help others grow, we can deliver not just better value for our youth, but better services too.
Clearing The Youth Trust Deficit In The Party:
That argument must start with restating the case for deficit reduction which Hon. Bai Mahmoud leadership created by sitting right on top of the pyramid enjoying our youth within the party living in miserable conditions. It’s really this simple: if we don’t control the youth trust deficit which is the grater percentage of our voting population, it will control us. A large youth deficit within our own party youth puts our chances to sustain governance at risk. If we lose control of this simple and straight forward truth, we are at higher risk and all the pain that will bring for the party across the country in the coming election.
Regaining this lost trust, on the other hand, will rebuild our relationship with the youth especially with Beloz who’s leadership qualities cut across responsibly with huge amount of respect from the youth in all sectors of the country. If we are not trying to appease our youth by giving them someone they trust that he will surely work assiduously with them to change their current vulnerable conditions and reduce the high youth trust deficit ahead of the transitional election; we will be repeating the mistakes of the period that led up to SLPP losing governance.
We saw over the bye elections the volatility in the voting patterns of our youth in our own very strongholds. So getting back into the black is about making sure we can face down such threats with confidence that we have a leader in our Youth League that can really speak the language of our disgruntled youth to saved the transitional elections in our favour.
Beloz’s vision for the APC Youth League is that the League will be a think, share and do group. It will be a space to find inspiration and people with common values and vision. It will be a place to solve issues that we individually face with our personal projects to save the vulnerable plights of our youth. It will be a place to find collaborators or resources, such as jobs, funding opportunities or educational resources. It will be a place where, if necessary, we can mobilise a flood of loving and energetic support from across the country and the world for our most challenging problems. Unlike Hon. Bai Mahmoud leadership, the leadership of Beloz in the APC Youth League could be unique by creating more genuine connections between members and beyond to concretely empower our youth. We could share our challenges. We could share our deepest dreams.
Beloz would reform the APC Youth League to a national community of young APC thinkers and doers with a sincere commitment to sustain transparency and accountability with a sense of nationalistic responsibility of purpose to the country and clean loyalty to the APC Party. Like-minded people who ‘get’ and share his deepest passions to truly sustain President Koroma’s Youth Legacy and feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment in doing good for the APC Party and the country.
With Beloz’s leadership the APC Youth League will be a playground for synergies between smart people to sustain the activities of the Party, maintain and win more membership in all fronts including opposition strongholds and most importantly the APC youth League will be a center where we can turn wholesome thoughts and intentions into actions and results to make Sierra Leoneans at large proud. I am with Beloz because I strongly believe in his exceptional leadership qualities and people tell me “millennials think they can save the world and it’s not a reality”. I want to prove them wrong with Beloz’s as the President of the APC Youth League and make President Koroma extremely proud with his action to throw his weight behind the his own very APC Youth.  Let’s do it with Beloz!
To End:

So yes, we have some difficult decisions to make in the months ahead. But what Beloz’s leadership in the APC Youth League will be showing is that youth trust deficit reduction and an opportunity society for our APC Youth are not alternatives. They can complement each other.
Because with a smarter Youth League President like Beloz, make NO mistake, we can get not just our youth, but also youth from opposition parties. But this can only happen If we embrace reform, break-up monopolies, take on vested interests, devolve power and maximise the empowerment of our youth concretely, we won’t just regain lost confidence, we will lay the foundation for the most radical and most progressive APC Government of our recent history.
So every time the media does a piece talking about the lacking of resources for the APC Youth, we shall say balance it with a piece about results too.
It’s not just about resources: it’s about results. And that’s what you can trust Beloz Youth League President to deliver – for you, for your family and for our none APC working people across the length and breadth of our land.
